The International School at Sotogrande
It’s been 40 years since The International School at Sotogrande (ISS) was founded by a group of local residents who wanted to offer the growing international community a British-style education with a Spanish influence. Located at Cortijo Paniagua the school opened September 1978 with a roll of 18 students.
Sotogrande International School
Fast forward 40 years and few could have predicted the success and growth of the school, which is now recognised as a leading International School, offering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years (PYP), Middle Years (MYP) and IB Diploma (DP) programmes. The most significant period of change came in 2001, when, under a new dynamic education foundation led by Mr Paul Templeton, the school relocated to a purpose-built campus in Sotogrande Alto with the new name Sotogrande International School (SIS). The new school opened its doors to 500 students from around the world.
A Passionate Learning Community
Today SIS is a culturally diverse, passionate learning community, providing a rigorous International Education to 930 students from 44 countries. As an Apple Distinguished School technology is creatively embedded into the curriculum for all students from the age of 3, helping teachers to create extraordinary educational experiences which encourage students to think independently and critically, developing their own unique interests, gifts and talents.
SIS students have access to many academic and sporting career paths, from learning STEM subjects following the F1 in Schools programme, to a specialist Football Academy with Atletico de Madrid, Golf Academy with Jason Floyd Golf and Tennis with SotoTennis.
